Activities

Campers get to pick 4 activities every day!  No need to sign up ahead of time unless there is an additional fee requirement for the activity.  Below is a sample of the activities offered.

ARCHERY                                                                                                         
A certified instructor teaches safety and beginner and intermediate skills with the bow and arrow.

ARTS & CRAFTS                                                                                             
Campers will make designer crafts!  Crafts will challenge the basic to experienced arts and crafts enthusiasts. Fee: $20
BEACH VOLLEYBALL                                                                                      
Volleyball in the sand and sun! Instruction and team contests for fun on the beach.
CANOEING & FUNYAKS                                                                                   
Instruction in safety and handling of canoes. Pond participation to qualified campers.

DISC GOLF                                                                                                       
NEW! Combine your Frisbee throwing abilities with 9 holes of golf!

DOUBLE DUTCH                                                                                              
Jump roping at its finest. Learn the sport of jumping rope with two ropes! (The only Camp in CT to offer this spectacular program!)
DRAMA                                                                                                            
A variety of creative activities which includes at least two of the following: mime, puppetry, set making, one act plays, costume creation, and pantomime.
FISHING                                                                                                            
Cast your camp provided fishing pole, catching a great time & a few fish along the way! You take home the fishing pole & the fish stories! Fee: $20

JEWELRY MAKING                                                                                           

NEW! Learn how to make beautiful beaded jewelry. Necklaces, bracelets, earrings and more!

Fee: $20

PERFORMING ARTS AND DANCE                                                                       
Using your musical talents, work together developing a production for the weekly talent show!  Also, learn basic or advanced steps to various dance routines leading up to a production at the talent show!

MOVIE PRODUCTION                                                                                          
Using fun digital technology, learn how to produce a movie at the 4-H Camp for a full production!
NATURE/OUTDOOR LIVING                                                                                
Become aware of everything around you… pond life, animal life, forest and field. Your adventure continues with a one night campout experience including pitching tents, cooking on an outdoor fire, learning simple first aid, and fishing.

NEWSPAPER                                                                                                       
Reporting, photography, and production of the weekly camp newsletter: “The Happy Camper”
RECREATION                                                                                                       
Team sports, indoor/outdoor games and cooperative games. Something different every day!

ROBOTICS                                                                                                                                                

NEW! Learn the basics of robotics. Build sample robot units, such as racecars, monkeys or something else!

Fee: $30

ROCKETRY                                                                                                           
Beginner and advanced classes. Construction, safety, and LAUNCH! Ages 10 &up. Fee: $20

ROPES COURSE                                                                                                
Develop your leadership skills with individual & team challenges taught by certified instructors.

SCRAPBOOKING                                                                                                                                  

NEW! Create a scrapbook of your camp experience! Project includes taking camp pictures to include in your book! Fee: $20

SWIMMING                                                                                                           
Certified American Red Cross staff will follow programs and testing for fun at the 4-H pond!

UKULELE BUILDING                                                                                                 
NEW! Design and construct your very own ukulele to learn songs on and bring home with you! Fee: $30

4-H GOAT PROJECT CAMP (Bring your own!)                                              
FIRST WEEK ONLY - June 26 - July 1, 2011: 4-H Goat program for the first 12 youth registered. Week long instruction on fitting and showmanship, on-site demonstrations, workshops, along with having a fun camping experience! Must bring your own goat and have all required vet certifications for show. Be sure to note on your registration that you want to attend the 2009 New London County 4-H Camp's 4-H Goat Program! More details to follow. Note: You do not have to have a goat to participate in session one!

4-H SHEEP CAMP (Bring your own!)                                                                
SECOND WEEK ONLY - July 3 - 8, 2011: 4-H Sheep program for the first 12 youth registered. Week long instruction on fitting and showmanship, on-site demonstrations, workshops, along with having a fun camping experience! Must bring your own sheep and have all required vet certifications for show. Be sure to note on your registration that you want to attend the 2010 New London County 4-H Sheep Program! Call Gary Grenier at (860) 535-2489 with any questions. Scholarships may be available. Note: You do not need a sheep to participate in session 2!
